Yuan was born and raised in southwest China. In July 2016, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the National University of Singapore where he performed research on asymmetric base metal catalysis in Prof. Zhao Yu’s group. He joined the Brown group in September 2016 as a postdoctoral research fellow. His current research focus is in the area of Cu-catalyzed asymmetric difunctionalization of alkenes. In his spare time, he enjoys sleeping, playing basketball, swimming, and drinking.
