Erin is from Fort Wayne, Indiana and is currently working on her B.A. in Chemistry. In the Brown Lab, she is learning from Erin Hancock about the total synthesis of cyclobutane-containing natural products. She will graduate in May 2019 and hopes to attend medical school. In her free time, Erin enjoys riding her horse, playing ukulele, and traveling to new countries.

Undergraduate - Isaac Joyner (UC Berkeley)

Isaac is an undergraduate from Columbus, Indiana working towards a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in French. He joined the lab in Spring of 2018 and is mentored by Ali Lambright. His passion for chemistry began while taking his first semester of Organic Chemistry during his freshman year. After graduation, Isaac plans to pursue a PhD in organic chemistry. Outside of the lab, Isaac teaches group exercise classes at the campus rec center, is an academic tutor, and enjoys outdoor activities.

Undergraduate - Trevor Swisher (Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories Professional Scientific Services)

Trevor is from Lafayette, Indiana and is working towards a B.S. in Chemistry. In the Brown lab, he has the privilege of working with Stephen on Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling. Trevor plans to graduate in 2020 and then further his education by going to graduate school to pursue my Ph.D and specialize in Organic Chemistry and conduct research. Trevor’s hobbies include listening to 80’s rock music, watching The Office, and staying up late for no reason.

Undergraduate - Annika Tharp (University of Michigan)

Annika is from Ann Arbor, Michigan and is currently working on her B.S. in Biochemistry at IU. She is working with Stanna on arylboration of alkenes via Cu/Pd synergistic catalysis. She expects to graduate in May 2020 and plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. In her free time, Annika enjoys figure skating, skiing, rock climbing, going on adventures, taking naps, sailing, baking, and kittens.

Abby is an undergraduate from Excelsior, Minnesota working towards her B.A. in Chemistry and B.A. in Spanish at IU. She expects to graduate in December 2021 and plans to start medical school in the fall of 2022. She is working with Grace on arylboration of alkenes via Ni catalysis. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, running, writing calligraphy, playing with dogs, and being with friends.

Christian is an exchange student from Germany and he has recently joined the Brown lab for his undergraduate research project. He is exploring the use of arylboration as a strategy in natural product synthesis. Driven by his interest in synthetic organic chemistry, he will work on his Bachelor thesis in total synthesis, after he returns to Freie University Berlin in May 2022. In his free time he enjoys traveling to other cities in the USA to gain as many impressions as possible, as well as exploring the nature around Bloomington while mountain-biking or hiking.

Daniel is an undergraduate from Westfield, Indiana working towards his B.S. in Chemistry. He is currently working alongside Shashwati on the development of rigid bicycles for medicinal purposes. After graduation, Daniel plans to pursue a PhD in organic chemistry with hopes of later entering the pharmaceutical development and research field. In his free time, Daniel enjoys building vintage motorcycles, working on his car, and traveling to national parks.

Carter is an undergraduate from Schererville, Indiana pursuing a B.S. in Biochemistry. He is currently working with Souvik on triplet energy transfer mediated dearomative cycloaddition reactions. In his free time, he enjoys playing the saxophone and hiking.
